PhD projects of PigIT
The budget of PigIT includes funding for four PhD projects corresponding to the methodological themes of the alliance. The titles of the projects are:
- Automatic learning and pattern recognition using sensor data. The project was carried out by Dan Børge Jensen under the supervision of Nils Toft, Cécile Cornou and Anders Ringgaard Kristensen. The dissertation was submitted and successfully defended in 2016.
- Methods for prioritization of alarms and intervention. The project was carried out by Katarina Nielsen Dominiak under the supervision of Anders Ringgaard Kristensen. The dissertation was submitted and successfully defended in 2017.
- Optimization methods in a stochastic production environment. The project was carried out by Reza Pourmoayed under the supervision of Associate Professor Lars Relund Nielsen. The dissertation was submitted and successfully defended in 2016.
- Evolutionary operations as a tool for improving welfare and productivity. The project was later converted to a post doc project. It was carried out by Heidi Andersen under the supervision of Erik Jørgensen.

In addition to the four projects directly funded by the alliance, a Dutch PhD project entitled Bayesian Networks for Bio-monitoring is associated to the project under the supervision of Professor Linda C. van der Gaag at Utrecht University. It is funded by the Dutch research council "NWO Exacte Wetenschappen".
